Ha’ita Orah / There Was Light
I created this design to honor the memory of my friend Remie. In addition to being a strong, determined, endlessly creative and loving wife, mother, and friend with a wonderful sense of humor, she was also a renowned scholar of the medieval Arabic world who focused on how people lived their daily lives. This text, and the story of Esther, reminded me of her spirit and soul. It's inspired by Arabic calligraphy, and the colors evoke the sand and water that she loved.
Text: Excerpt from the Book of Esther 8:16
Translation:
“...There was light and gladness, joy and honor.”
